Swiss switching system maker Polycontact is aiming to launch cable production at its factory in Sibiu, in Romania’s central part.
Under the plan, the manufacturer is to invest about €1m with the aim to acquire the necessary machinery to extrude cables. By 2019, Polycontact is planning to take on about 220 employees at its factory which is currently operated by a workforce of 80, and reach revenues of more than €10m per year, according to company representatives. Polycontact launched its Romanian plant in 2014 after the company decided to relocate some of its manufacturing activities from its plant in Shenzen, China, to the European Union.
